"The catch-phrase for Boys State is A week to shape a lifetime but that does not even begin to describe the impact Boys State has on you. You walk out of Boys State not only with new knowledge over government, law, and politics, but with friendships and memories to last a lifetime."

Missouri Boys State Journalism - Newspaper 2021

Citizens write their stories for the MBS Record

One of the forms of media available to Missouri Boy’s State is the MBS Record, the newspaper for the 51st state. Students of all three media outlets attend a lecture class in the morning learning various aspects of the journalism world from writing styles to the ethics in being a journalist. In the afternoon, the editors and staff writers of the newspaper meet and brainstorm story ideas, layouts, and sales for advertisement. After that, the reporters are out on the campus hunting stories and chasing leads, just like out in the real world, providing information on all stories going on amongst cities. The paper is then put together that night to be ready for distribution the next morning, making it very close to a real- working Newspaper company.

Check back here later in the week for the latest MBS Record.

MBS Record

Did you know...
The MBS Record is printed each night in true newspaper format at a real newspaper printing facility and delivered to all citizens each morning. So citizens face real deadlines to get their stories in.

Citizens watch a video broadcast each night that is put together by the citizens in the Journalism School. The broadcast consists of news, as well as commercials that citizens pay for with their Boys State Bucks. All of the broadcasts can be seen on the Video Yearbook, which can be purchased here.
