Day to Day Activities - Saturday, June 15th

Arrival and Registration

Saturday marks the beginning of the 80th session of the American Legion Boys State of Missouri as nearly a thousand young leaders from across Missouri (and the world) arrive at the University of Central Missouri campus for a week to shape a lifetime. As the citizens prepare for the week, they will begin building the foundations of their own government.

After registration, the citizens will begin to form friends and the base of their political system during their first city meetings, as their city counselors prepare the citizens for the upcoming week.

The Man in the Arena

During the opening assembly the Director and staff of Missouri Boys State encouraged the citizens to make the most of the incredible opportunity given to them this week. The staff empowered the citizens to utilize this week as a chance to learn to be men of action, to become the next generation of "Men in the Arena." The citizens were also given the core ideals of Boys State Character: Positive Attitude, Focus, Discipline, and Consistency.

The program also recognized several members of the staff, awarding 10, 20, and 30 years of service awards.

After the service awards, the Boys State staff held a hype session to set the lightning pace of the 80th Session of Missouri Boys State. As the citizens returned to their cities, they would begin work establishing their political system for the upcoming city elections.

MBS Record

The citizens of Missouri Boys State publish a paper that is delivered to the citizens every morning. Copies of this paper are published here every day for your enjoyment. Today's edition is available here.
