"Boys State was good preparation for the college experience. Even if you aren't interested in politics, you still get the opportunity to do things and meet people you would not have otherwise gotten."

Day to Day Activities - Tuesday, June 20th

County Government

County election polls opened at 6:30 AM for citizens to cast their votes. As county polls filled up, state primary candidates strove to win their party's nomination, campaigning across Boys State. At tuesday's party caucus, the citizens will vote for their party platform and hear from their candidates for state office.

After the polls closed, the newly elected county leaders (see the results on the Elections page) began appointing officials and setting up plans for their county as a whole.

The citizens' work in the schools of instruction began being seen statewide, as television broadcasts, legislation, and court cases impacted the experiences of the citizens regularly.

Evening Activities

During the Tuesday night assembly, the Missouri Boys State Supreme Court was sworn in by Associate Circuit Court Judge Alan Blankenship. The Missouri Boys State evening assembly featured Missouri State Auditor Nicole Galloway, who urged the citizens to begin networking at Boys State and to utilize their access to the Internet responsibly. Auditor Galloway also took questions from the citizens ranging from past audits, avoiding partizanship, and the challenges she has faced as State Auditor. The nightly MBSTV Broadcast was presented, showing the latest news around Boys State. (These broadcasts are available with the 2017 Video Yearbook.)

Following Tuesday night's assembly, Citizens who chose the law school took the Missouri Boys State Bar Exam, and contestants in the Boys State Shark Tank will compete for funding for their business. On Wednesday, the state parties will vote for their candidates for statewide office, and the citizens will be one more step towards completion of their state government.

MBS Record

The citizens of Missouri Boys State publish a paper that is delivered to the citizens every morning. Copies of this paper are published here every day for your enjoyment. Today's edition is available here.
