"I did not know what to expect when I walked in, but when I walked out, I ended up making many new friends. At first, I thought that "A Week to Shape a Lifetime" was just a catchy slogan, but it ended up being exactly what it said it was."

Day to Day Activities - Wednesday, June 22nd

The citizens are nearly there; state primary elections have concluded, putting them one step closer to completing their Boys State. State officers and appointed state officials are all that Boys State is lacking. Schools of instruction and governmental activities filled the early part of the day as citizens made many decisions concerning law and policy. After a busy morning, the citizens attended a Gubernatorial debate and a joint party rally in the evening.

Primary Elections

With some very close races the election results are in! A Boys State citizen from each of the two Boys State parties has been elected to run as their party's candidate in the state general election on Thursday. The general election is the final step to completing the state government, Offices on the ballot include: Lieutenant Governor, Attorney General, State Auditor, State Treasurer, Secretary of State, and Governor. Tonight, the candidates for governor will discuss prime topics at Missouri Boys State in a gubernatorial debate conducted by representatives of the Boys State television, radio, and newspaper. During the evening assembly, candidates for each office will have the opportunity to speak in front of the entire Boys State in a joint party rally.

Joint Party Rally

After the state candidates spoke at the joint party rally, the entire state opened for business. Candidates campaigned in every corner of the state, businesses strived for more profit, and courts pursued justice and precedents. Citizens everywhere, whether spectating in businesses or performing civic duties, are nearing the completion of their Boys State. One city meeting and a nights rest before the polls open to conclude the last election of Missouri Boys State. Who will they choose? Tomorrow they will complete their boys state government, all offices filled and working together.
