Questions
What
are my responsibilities when it comes to Boys State?
Basically, it is up to
you to help us find the most qualified candidates from your
school to send to MBS. Please review the criteria set forth
in the Reference section of the website on selecting the best
students. Review the application and have the prospective
student(s) complete the application. Obtain your school principal's
signature as well as the parent's signature and send it to
the MBS District Chairman in your area. Once the District
Chairman receives the application, it will be considered for
selection. Keep in mind the final decision on participation
in the Boys State program rests with the MBS District Chairman.

How many students can
I send?
The number of students selected
from each high school to attend Missouri Boys State is determined
by available sponsorships, school enrollment and student qualifications.
Our goal is to have every high school in the state of Missouri
represented at our program. Those larger high schools with
higher enrollments are allowed to send more applications than
schools with smaller enrollments. However, smaller schools
with more than one student with outstanding qualifications
may not be limited to just one applicant. Consult the MBS
District Chairman in your area for further clarification.

Where can I get
answers to parents' and students' questions?
Many are answered in the
Reference Section of this website, or if they still
have questions, they can contact
Missouri Boys State Headquarters.

How can I prepare a student
to attend Boys State?
Most of your job is to motivate
them to prepare themselves. We encourage them to utilize this
website as well as the information that we send to them to get
a grasp on the nature of the program and what they need to do.
We also provide school visits that will explain the program.
These visits are very important as they allow the prospective
students to ask former citizens questions, so it is important
that you arrange for the interested students to be able to participate
in the visit. If you do not have a visit scheduled, please contact
our headquarters office.
