HOLDEN INDUCTED INTO MBS HALL OF FAME
(WARRENSBURG,
MO) – Former Missouri Governor Bob Holden, a long-time supporter
and volunteer at The American Legion Boys State of Missouri was
inducted into the MBS Hall of Fame at a ceremony in Hendricks Hall
at Central Missouri State University tonight. Holden has been an
MBS staff volunteer for over 20 years. Holden delivered the keynote
speech during the general assembly at the 66th annual session of
Missouri Boys State prior to his induction. Holden urged the 981
participants to get involved in the political process and work to
make the future brighter. Following his address, Holden took questions
from the participants on a variety of subjects including healthcare,
education and state budget issues. Holden also thanked The American
Legion for sponsoring the Boys State program and for their commitment
to youth programs throughout the state of Missouri.
“It’s a great honor to be inducted
into the MBS Hall of Fame, over my career I’ve been inspired
by the youth of Missouri. It’s a great feeling to be included
in the Hall of Fame with so many outstanding Boys State leaders”
said Holden.
Former MBS Director Mike Stewart presented Holden
with a plaque to commemorate his induction. Current MBS Director
Craig Ritchie presented Holden with the customary Boys State staff
shirt following his induction. The MBS Hall of Fame was created
as part of the 50th anniversary of the Boys State program in 1988.
