Ed Martin

No one loved Missouri Boys State more than Ed Martin.  He gave more than 35 years of service to Missouri Boys State and served in many top leadership positions. He served as MBS Quartermaster (now Dean of Operations) from 1971-1975.  He served as MBS Treasurer from 1977-1990. As treasurer he was instrumental in instituting many of the current accounting practices utilized by Boys State today.  Ed and his wife Colleene served faithfully as members of the volunteer staff until the late 1990’s.  Ed was named a lifetime member of the Executive Committee of the Board of Directors in June of 1990.  Ed was also a catalyst during the formation of The American Legion Missouri Boys State Trust Fund (formerly The A.B. Weyer Memorial Trust) serving as that organization’s first Treasurer beginning in June of 1982 until retiring from that post in August of 2001.  He also contributed as a significant fundraiser, raising nearly $20,000 for the Trust.  Ed was a very active life member of The American Legion and Post 224 in Kansas City where he lived most of his life. Ed passed away in October of 2005, he was 82.
