While a citizen at Boys State, Herb Kohn was elected Lt. Governor. From that moment forward, he remained active with the program serving as an assistant city counselor, city counselor, Dean of Counselors and Director of Missouri Boys State. In addition, he is credited with providing the major impetus behind the formation of the A.B. Weyer Memorial Trust Fund now known as The American Legion Missouri Boys State Trust Fund. While serving as one of the original trustees, Herb Kohn has worked tirelessly toward building the Trust both through his personal contributions and his vigorous fundraising efforts. Kohn remains very active in the Boys State program and serves as a lifetime member of the Executive Committee of the Boys State Board of Directors. A respected lawyer in the Kansas City area, Kohn is currently a partner and member of the firm executive committee at Bryan Cave LLP. He is recognized as one of the most influential businessmen in the Kansas City area. Serving on numerous boards and charities, he has truly made his mark in the community. He serves as a member of the board of directors for the Harry S. Truman Library Institute, a member of the Civic Council of Greater Kansas City and is chairperson of the Kansas City Art Institute’s Board of Trustees. He graduated from the University of Michigan with a bachelor of arts degree and a juris doctorate in 1960 and 1963 respectively.
