Treva Bounds served The Missouri American Legion as a member of the state headquarters office staff for 27 years. She served as office manager for most of those years. As a part of her duties with The American Legion she was assigned to support Missouri Boys State. She served as assistant secretary to the MBS Board of Directors until she left her position in 1992. In 1993, she was named the first-ever female member of the MBS Board of Directors. She continued to serve Boys State as assistant to the director. She served as a board member until her retirement in 2004. All in all, she served 36 years as a member of the Boys State staff. Few people have given as much to Boys State as Treva Bounds. She ran the Boys State office every year, logging long hours at an exhaustive pace. She was instrumental in converting the all-paper Boys State to a computerized program. She facilitated several office moves on campus and always keep the program running smoothly. She celebrated her birthday every year at Boys State. As she put it so eloquently, “I love sharing my birthday with my Boys State Family.” She attended every board meeting and provided much needed administrative support throughout the year, long after the week of Boys State had ended. No one knows as much about the inner workings of Boys State than Treva Bounds. Her dedication was unparalleled and her love of the program was never ending.
