Charles Bacon served as Missouri's first National Commander of the American Legion.  In addition to the biographical information contained in the Historical Chapter of this manual, Charles Bacon provided service to Boys State beyond the call of duty by serving as Chairman of the A.B. Weyer Memorial Trust Fund. Bacon County at Boys State is named for Charles L. Bacon.
