Missouri Boys State in Action - 2011 Political Platforms

The citizens of Missouri Boys State are divided into two political parties, the "Federalists" and the "Nationalists." These titles have no real political connotation. Citizens are assigned to political parties randomly. Political parties afford the opportunity for collective thinking and sincere cooperation in analyzing problems that affect citizens as a whole. Political parties develop platforms which define party aims and ideals. In Boys State each party develops their own platform at the ward, city, county, and state level. These platforms often include positions on both real world and Boys State issues that party members feel are in the interest of Boys State citizens.

Nationalist State Party Platform

Taxes:
All of those receiving an income will pay a 15% flat income tax while residing at Missouri Boys state to promote the expansion of small businesses.

Cell Phone Usage:
For the good of MBS as a whole, stricter regulations will be enacted on the usage of cell phones during non-meal times.  However, during breakfast, lunch and dinner, cell phone use will be allowed to encourage communication with loved ones.

City Rights:
In MBS, major decisions will be made by the cities because without the success of the cities, the State will fail.  In addition, the state government should exist to promote the general welfare of the citizens and to enforce the laws of the state.

Welfare:
In the event of bankrupcy, which is considered to be one who holds a maximum of $100 BSB, a monetary grant will be provided to ensure the protection of small business.

Veteran Benefits:
In order to give back to those who have served our country, efforts should be made to increase retirement funds and benefits across the state.

 

Small Business Tax Breaks:
As the Federalist Party of Missouri Boys State, we do believe that all citizens may interject into the market of small business without woe or fear of non-thriving businesses and encumbering effects of elevated taxes.
Therefore, the Federalist ideal is to hereby endow initial tax breaks, which will then gradually increase as financial success of the business arises, to those citizens willing to take the chance to start a business and, therefore, stimulate the Boys State of Missouri's economy.

Free Trade Agreement:
In order to form a more unified Missouri Boys State, the Federalist Party supports free commerce and visitation between cities and counties.
To accomplish this vision, the building of toll boths should be outlawed and a MBS free trade agreement will be drafted and introduced to the General Assembly.

Civil Responsibility:
The Federalist Party strives to have a model state with citizens that have a high moral and ethical standard they advocate for.  Therefore, the Federalist Party supports ICUC: Integrity, Community, Unity, and Competence.
-Statutes that encourage morality
-Statutes that punish neglience and civil disorder
-Only endorse candidates that show these characteristics

Campaign Finance:
As the Federalist Party of MBS, we believe that any candidate should be able to afford to run for office.  Therefore, the Federalist Party supports:
-A campaign fund limit of $10,000
-Outlawing “soft money” which consists of any non-currency or indirrect donations.

Public Defense:
The MBS Federalist Party supports opportunity for a fair and equal society for all members.  Therefore the party supports:
-The provision of a defense attorney in the event that a citizen is unable to afford one for himself
-The defense attorney defending a citizen accused of a crime, regardless of if the defendant is found innocent or guilty.
