For the past 70+ years, the Boys State program has been training young men in citizenship, leadership, and public service. Each June, nearly 1,000 high school juniors attend Missouri Boys State from every corner of Missouri. During the week, they gain a better understanding of our political system, the principles of democracy, and their own capacity for leadership and community service. This is accomplished through interaction among themselves, our all-volunteer staff, and prominent guest speakers. Boys State participants traditionally have gone on to be leaders in community, business, public service, and family. Many say the seeds of their success were planted at Boys State.
The Missouri American Legion started the program and we continue to rely heavily on them for support. However, because of rapidly declining membership, we must find most of our sponsors from community-minded organizations and businesses such as those found here.
