Citizen of the Week

During the 2013 session of Boys State, a "Citizen of the Week" will be selected to receive the 40/8 Kickapoo Voiture Locale 760 Wayne Gregory Memorial Scholarship of $2,000 per year for up to 4 years to cover costs and fees, payable to a College or University of the recipient’s choice. Must meet requirements as published by the MBS Memorial Trust, including a 3.0 GPA, and return as a staff member of Boys State annually. One time scholarships will also be awarded to the first alternate ($2,000) and second alternate ($1,000).

The citizen elected as the Missouri Boys State Governor is eligible to receive a $500 scholarship from The American Legion Scholarship Committee, payable to a College or University of the recipient’s choice. Must meet requirements including returning the following year as a staff member and successfully performing his executive duties as Governor.

The American Legion Samsung Scholarship
One at $1,000 or One at $20,000 |
Each participant who successfully completes the 2013 session of Missouri Boys State and meets the scholarship criteria may apply for the Samsung/American Legion Scholarship. Applicant must be a direct descendant (i.e., son, grandson, great-grandson, etc. or legally adopted) of a U.S. veteran who served on active duty during at least one of the periods of war indicated on the application. Documentation showing the veteran served on active duty during eligibility period(s) indicated on the front of the application is required. Accepted forms of documentation are listed here. Deadline: Must be postmarked by June 30, 2013. One national finalist will be selected from the applications received from participants of Missouri Boys State. The Missouri national finalist will then compete against nearly 100 other national finalists selected from the Boys State and Girls State programs for approximately nine $20,000 national scholarships. The remaining national finalists will each receive a $1,000 scholarship.
